  1. guessing she is unstable in the model as the mass of the boat hasnt been scaled?
  2. if only if we had a steel industry in which could support it....
  3. if the pound keeps dropping. The clyde will be the cheapest place to have a new build!
  4. Could AIS have had a wobble?
  5. Yes, sorry got the terminology wrong! Either way the bed was comfortable and we had a kettle. All I was trying to say was that the front cabins on the Cap, if the weather is lumpy, are a bit like a roller coaster with this one the bed disappears from under you. I enjoyed it..

  7. I booked the commodore cabin for my return trip on the Cap in March. The positive was we had a great forward view, the negative was we were punching the waves from a northerly. Mrs Dave was rather unwell trying to sleep. I went aft to the bar and the Cap was far more comfortable. In the waves, the aft bar is actually nicer than the forward cabins!
  8. there is nothing wrong with new posts from peeps who may be asking about a dog/cat/car/van/horse/boat get the answer they need and dont need to reply. They are not going to get to 10 posts? The reason I suggested it was a stirrer rather than a contributor is that it "hit all the right buttons". There was no new information that couldn't have been gained from reading the "new ships" threads. Plus the recent activity suggested they hadn't logged in since asking the question!
  9. Gareth, the ferrybuffinplym was clearly someone who thought about throwing a grenade in to the melting pot of this message board who is now standing back and laughing...
  10. I do get the impression that this thread was started by someone intending to get everyone nattering again... light the fuse wire, wait, and watch the fireworks!
  11. I read that the MOD are delaying building the next ship in scotland as there is no denero...so there must be space for a british built ferry up there?
  12. One of the ships after leaving Santander following their refit did their sea trials/bunkering off Gijon it appeared after that. I think it may have been the Arm?
  13. I know its the daily mail....but RMS St Helena might not be going anywhere else for a while... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3622981/The-250m-island-airport-jets-t-land-windy-guess-aid-money-paying-it.html
  14. They came out mid july last year.
  15. they probably bet on that 30% will stay by the bar, 30% will stay by the buffet 30% will be in the swimming pool, and the final 10% might worry where they are?
  16. I wonder what a sea handling is like in anything remotely choppy. Extremely top heavy one assume? But with a lot of power?!? If she burns 1000+tonnes of fuel a day, it must take her while to bunker!
  17. http://www.piratefm.co.uk/news/latest-news/1987721/video-first-look-at-the-new-supply-ship-for-the-isles-of-scilly/ Plus news of the potential new Scillonian!
  18. which is why I asked the question about submarines...
  19. so did she hit fishing nets? or are we going to hear about a submarine being hit in 25 years time?
  20. Travelled on the Cap in March, there is nothing wrong with her, she is a nice ship. "the flow" of people around the ship is a bit crazy, with everyone buying food on the top deck to then bring it down and eat it in the warm on deck 7...the posh cabins up the front are nice. But Mrs DFC felt a little queasy as the cap ploughed through the waves. The biggest downside was the loading and unloading as they only used the aft end it took an age!
  21. how much is it the Italian Shipping Agent bragging to someone- Look how many ships I have on my books...
