    Normandie 04/08

Hello, I don't usually post on here but love the site anyway. I've just disembarked from the 16:30 Caen - Portsmouth crossing on board the Normandie, and wondered if anyone knew of any problems? We were an hour late leaving and boarding seemed to take twice as long as usual. The car deck staff didn't seem overly confident in what they were doing which made me wonder if they'd been drafted in because of a shortage? When arriving in Portsmouth, passengers were permitted to go to the garages all at once, which I found strange as it is usually a deck at a time. This resulted in chaos as you can imagine! They were also asking passengers to open the garage doors themselves via the intercom - is this normal? I have never seen them do this before. As we disembarked, it became evident that we and the adjacent cars were parked on top of the hinge (for the car deck that is raised to allow cars to park underneath). They then proceeded to reposition every car so that the ramp could move! I have never experienced such chaos on board BF - they are usually very smooth! What happened to cause such an even this evening? Cheers
  2. Hello, I always travel home from France on the Normandie in July every year. Does that mean that when I book my ferry travel for 2019, the booking would be for the Honfleur? Sorry if this question has already been asked.
  3. Ah ok, thank you for your help.
  4. I have noticed how lots of the waiting staff on board are very young, presumably just working for the summer. How do Brittany Ferries recruit their summer staff, because I am planning on studying French at university and this could be the ideal summer job for me in a year or two. Thanks
  5. I travelled on the Normandie last Saturday, and I have to say there are areas where she is looking a little tired. I think it's slightly irritating as BF is not cheap, and at least on my crossings I can't see where the money is being spent. All Normandie's interior needs is a slight change of décor in some places, new flooring throughout and a lick of paint. I feel as though the ship could be transformed with a visit to Ikea, which is why it is so annoying! I understand that there is probably more to do on Normandie than just a few furnishing improvements, but regardless of how long BF intend on keeping her, passenger areas really should be up to scratch. She is a beautiful ship and it would be a shame if she were to look 'unloved'.
