  1. Thanks - the API 'form' has "Return trip" alongside the start of each of the two people identified on my booking, but no advice on what "Return trip" signifies as far as the API is concerned. Perhaps explanatory advice of that type is too much to hope for...
  2. I THINK I misunderstood the purpose of the API ‘form’ when I filled it in, as I was under the impression it was like the Passenger Locator Form and only applicable for people entering the UK, whereas it seems to be 'bi-directional’. So I THINK the information I've provided so far relates only to my outgoing crossing from Portsmouth to Ouistreham and - once that has been completed - I assume I must repeat the procedure and the ‘form’ will then indicate that it applies to the Ouistreham to Portsmouth return trip. (That would make sense, as there’s no guarantee that the same people that will be leaving the UK for France will be returning from France to the UK.) Is that correct, please?
  3. I’m planning to take a Portsmouth-Caen crossing next week, returning 10 days later. When I happened to look at the details of my booking I found the following message near the bottom To comply with UK Home Office requirements please fill in your API (Advance Passenger Information) When I clicked on the embedded link, a ‘window’ popped up https://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/advance-passenger-information/access?state=f5162c31-b760-4d3e-b4da-ac25054111bb&session_state=828fe859-f70c-46a7-866e-9e1d79ebe22d&code=2dcec810-cff9-489f-adf2-d1733e354e02.828fe859-f70c-46a7-866e-9e1d79ebe22d.eac706a5-a02b-4b40-8bcd-4e8a94d48b90 that led to another ‘form’ that - in addition to showing the details I provided when I originally bought the ticket - asked for passport numbers and passport expiry dates for the people travelling on the return crossing to the UK. I duly filled in those details and the ‘form’ now shows “CONFIRMED” (in green) for the two adults (my wife and I) who will be coming back to the UK. I haven’t travelled with Brittany Ferries since late 2019 and I know that providing API was not necessary in the past. It would seem from the FAQ section of Brittany Ferries website https://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/information/faqs/booking-information/what-you-need-to-know-about-advance-passenger-information-api?state=eb64e333-d653-4bd4-88e1-0a994fe3d840&session_state=828fe859-f70c-46a7-866e-9e1d79ebe22d&code=3c08e530-a23b-4dfc-80de-4660c5889229.828fe859-f70c-46a7-866e-9e1d79ebe22d.eac706a5-a02b-4b40-8bcd-4e8a94d48b90 that providing API is mandatory and perhaps when one books a ticket nowadays this is made clear, but my ticket is ‘old’ (amended 8 times) and - if I had not chanced to look at my booking - I would not have been aware of the requirement. Comments would be appreciated...
  4. I don’t recall that parable, but Mahatma Gandhi said “If you don’t ask, you don’t get it" Or in this instance “if you do ask, you still don’t get it"😐
  5. I’ve just had an email from BF Customer Services and 'Ive quoted below the salient information ...the news letter did not specify how long the extension would be and I am sorry if other members have been wrongly advised that this extension would be a specific amount of time. Although our service resumed to France and Spain at the end of June 2020, the decision was made to offer a further extension as a good will gesture and each membership was dealt with on an individual basis. I have spoken to our customer service department who have confirmed that there are no current plans to add further extensions. So there you go... (maybe)
  6. David It’s possible (as was suggested above) that CV accounts that did not have an expiry date of 31 August 2021 might be being moved individually to 30 November 2021. This process might be being carried out alphabetically based on a CV member's surname. Both of our CV accounts had an expiry-date of 31 October 2021 but that date was extended to 30 November 2021 for my account a few days before yours - and my surname starts with U and yours with W. (A blind guess - my crystal ball’s dilithium crystals are on the way out...) It could (rightly) be claimed by BF that, as the July/August 2021 Newsletters did not say how long a CV extension was being awarded, both of us have had an extension, albeit just for a single month. However, that argument would be harder to justify in AmigoCirculo’s case where the CV membership expiry-date was already 30 November 2021.
  7. David Is your CV membership's expiry-date still shown as 31 October 2021, please?
  8. The 3 months ‘period of grace’ for Club Voyage renewal is mentioned in the last paragraph of the General Conditions section of the Membership terms and conditions provided here https://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/information/club-voyage-terms?error=login_required&state=190459a2-278a-46cc-8818-b10b8d19141e The relevant paragraph says By making application to join Club Voyage or by renewing their membership, the member confirms that they have read the Terms and Conditions of Club Voyage and agrees to be bound by them. Any amendment to membership must be by instruction from the member. Amendments will be charged at £25 at Brittany Ferries discretion. Membership will be considered lapsed and terminated if renewal fees are not paid within three months of expiry. I’ve never attempted to ‘slip’ my CV membership renewal, but if the start of a ‘late’ renewed membership period were not back-dated to follow on directly from the previous membership period’s expiry-date, it’s easy to see CV members being able to gain up to three extra months of no-cost CV membership by exploiting this condition. As it’s so obviously a potential loophole I would have thought Brittany Ferries’ policy would be for any late renewal within the 3 months of grace to have its CV membership period back dated to when the expired membership period ended. (If I were in BF’s shoes, I’d definitely back-date late renewals...)
  9. Same for me - plus I've just received a BF email containing an 'amended' booking ticket/invoice file that's exactly the same as previously except my Club Voyage expiry-date is now shown as 30 November 2021 instead of 31 October 2021.
  10. I notice that Brittany Ferries website now seems to have a revised ‘front end’ where the login procedure provides access to one’s Club Voyage account. Hasn’t magically improved my CV’s expiy-date though. 😂
  11. Yorky It would APPEAR that - following the July/August 2021 Club Voyage Newsletters being published - many (all?) Club Voyage (CV) members whose membership expiry-date had been 31 August 2021 had that date automatically extended by 3 months to 30 November 2021 However, there were CV members whose membership expiry-date had been after 31 August 2021 when the July 2021 CV Newsletter was emailed (in April 2021 my CV account’s expiry-date was set to 31 October 2021) and - as should be apparent from AmigoCirculo’s posting of 22 August above - such people’s membership expiry-date had not been automatically extended as stated in the July/August CV Newsletters. This snarl-up harks back to the 3-months extension advertised in the Xmas 2020 CV Newsletter and the peculiar follow-up move by Brittany Ferries to seemingly ‘normalise’ CV memberships’ expiry-date to 31 August 2021. As a result CV members (and that includes me) don’t know what effect the extension mentioned in the July/August CV Newsletters should have on their membership’s expiry-date as the opaque information in those Newsletters provided no clue. My latest email to Brittany Ferries read as follows: I notice that my Club Voyage (CV) membership’s expiry date has now been extended - by ONE MONTH from 31 October 2021 to 30 November 2021. As explained in my emails to you below, in April 2021 my CV membership’s expiry date was set to 31 October 2021 to include the 3-months extension awarded in Xmas 2020. It seems to me that Brittany Ferries unexplained policy earlier this year to set a general CV expiry date of 31 August 2021 is now resulting in the expiry date of CV memberships being extended to 30 November 2021 irrespective of a CV membership account actually having an expiry date later than 31 August 2021 (as was the case with my CV account). CV memberships that had a 31 August 2021 expiry date have clearly been extended by 3 months to 30 November 2021, but just 1 month has been added to my CV membership period, rather than the 3 months I was anticipating that would have extended my membership to 31 January 2022. Can anyone in Brittany Ferries explain what’s going on, please? Yorky It would APPEAR that many (all?) Club Voyage (CV) members whose membership expiry-date had been 31 August 2021 have had that date automatically extended by 3 months to 30 November 2021. However, there were CV members whose membership expiry-date had been after 31 August 2021 when the July 2021 CV Newsletter was emailed (in April 2021 my CV account’s expiry-date was set to 31 October 2021) and - as should be apparent from AmigoCirculo posting of 22 August above - such people’s membership expiry-date had not been automatically extended as stated in the July/August CV Newsletters. My latest email to Brittany Ferries read as follows:
  12. Having had a dialogue with Brittany Ferries about the membership extension mentioned in the July & August 2021 Club Voyage Newsletters, my CV membership’s expiry date (that was set to 31 October 2021 bsack in April 2021) has now been extended to 30 November 2021 (ie. a 1 month extension). I’ve just asked on the loathsome Twitter how long the extension referred to in the July & August 2021 Club Voyage Newsletters should be (I’m well aware no duration was specified in the Newsletters) on the assumption that all CV members would be awarded the same length extension and that this would be based on their CV account’s expiry date prior to the Newsletters being sent out. Dunno if I’ll get an answer as I’m a Twitter virgin and Twitter seems to be deliberately designed to infuriate.
  13. BF’s response is all very well, but it conflicts directly with what is said in the August CV Newsletter. My CV membership (after 3 extensions) currently has an expiry date of 31 October 2021 (like yours). I have a Portsmouth-Caen return booking for early September and I want to amend this to November or even December. Presumably, if I attempt to do this now, BF’s system will complain that my CV membership won’t be valid for November/December and prevent the amendment - but this should not happen if my CV membership were extended by 3 months to 31 January 2022. I’ve emailed BF Customer Services twice about this, but no reply yet. I’ve yet to see the webchat icon on the BF website, so Twitter looks like the next step.
  14. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll have a go at contacting BF about this by email and if I don’t get a reasonably quick response I’ll use Twitter. As some BFE forum participants with a CV membership that expired on 31 August 2021 have already had their membership extended by 3 months to 30 November 2021, I suspect that my CV membership will not be extended to 31 January 2022 by the end of this month unless I prompt BF directly.
  15. If believe you had similar problems to mine regarding the 2020 Christmas 3-months extension not being added to your Club Voyage account and that, after contacting Brittany Ferries about this and the negative effect on your CV account of BF deciding on a ‘universal' 31 August 2021 expiry date, your CV account was eventually corrected. (Your postings on this other forum thread) Club Voyage & Refund Vouchers - The Discussion Board - bfenthusiasts.com.webloc I think that - prior to the July 2021 CV Newsletter being issued - your CV account would (like mine) have had an expiry date of 31 October 2021. If that’s correct, may I ask if your CV account’s 31 October 2021 expiry date has been extended and, is so, what date it has been extended to?
