  1. She always felt like a slight step up from the Quiberon when she occasionally covered the Roscoff route. Strange layout, with the main deck still spilt in two from her previous era. I also didn't realise she had a wine bar in her original BF fit out, leading the way for Bretagne 3 years later. Unfortunately can't find any pictures of it anywhere. Another end of an era, nearly all the classics gone.
  2. Additionally DFDS have just announced a 6 times a week freight service between Rosslaire and Dunkirk. 24 hour crossings.
  3. Regarding Plymouth to Roscoff winter closure they state in Twitter ", we are in extraordinary times and unfortunately, we are not currently in a position to operate services that normally run at a financial loss". Very sad if Ply-Ros becomes properly seasonal.
  4. I think the harsh reality is, if BF did what they usually do and refund, there would be no more BF. These are unprecedented times, for businesses it's a challenge of a generation. We may get our refunds, but is it worth losing a ferry service we all use and generally enjoy?
  5. I think this may stem from this announcement yesterday... A Brittany Ferries rail line from Cherbourg to Bayonne... this would surely mean more Ireland-Cherbourg services possibly replacing the Ireland/Spain route...? https://www.ouest-france.fr/normandie/la-brittany-ferries-prend-le-rail-6705595?fbclid=IwAR2KCQ2sgp7jqAHrFU8tOiS1f9NsPZqpkIAqb4CQlBZxU5eMZIMjQ0u85LQ Companies that do not adapt are doomed to disappear. It is by relying on this formula that Jean-Marc Roué, president of Brittany Ferries, formalized this Friday evening the launch of the new major project of the shippi
  6. Hi all, loving the Bretagne 30 years book but slightly disappointed with the lack of onboard pics from her early days. Does anyone have any pics of the Lido Bar, hair salon, photo shop or the shop when it had stairs from deck 5 to 6. Or perhaps an original deckplan? Starting to think I imagined it all!
  7. The main difference, after 40 ISH years, the end of a blue and orange/red stripe in its entirety!
  8. I'd love to see Normandie replace Armorique, offering the BF service on the roscoff route with the economie-esque Armorique on the appropriate route. A boy can dream. (Though of course stranger things have happened... never expected the Duc or Pont L'Abbe on the route either)
  9. A slight aside but interested to know how often the buffet is available in the Normandie and Mont restaurants. Is it seasonal or purely based on passenger numbers? I've always found bf very good value for food, whether restaurant, self service or cafe.
  10. Cornuailles returned after Newhaven to launch the Truckline passenger service from Poole. I don't think she ever appeared in the 82-02 logo though.
  11. I think of all the different variations of winter service the once a week Friday over Saturday back sailings seemed the most suited to the route (although even then passenger numbers could be low). The trouble with that is the Plymouth to St Malo (and one year Plymouth Cherbourg) positioning crossings had very poor numbers. I remember one sailing single when i was one of only 6 cars. I'd love there to be an all year round service from Plymouth but I'm not sure it's sustainable with the substantially bigger ships.
  12. Bretagne is down for the final Cork sailing of the 2018 season but strangely with no positioning sailings. Also another year with no Plymouth Roscoff service for much of the winter.
  13. Re: Favourite Livery Ahhhhhh - its the devil cat! Like a ferry in fancy dress!
  14. Re: Favourite Livery For me it has to be Quiberon 84-02 - it was a very subtle livery. Other than BF have a soft spot for Stena Lines current livery. I think it looks very modern and sleek and seems to suit every ship no matter the size or age of ship.
