  1. We prefer starboard going out for the sunset and a better view of Santander on arrival. The port side is better in the mornings although the sun shining on the water can be a tad bright after a great evening in the Restaurant.
  2. I can endorse this sentiment as I know that I will not persuade my family to spend two nights and I assume over 36 hours on a ferry, particularly without a Balcony which we have always found very appealing. The Buffet has also always been a great favourite of ours and would be sorely missed. You can hear barking from the balconies, but not to worry over, and occasionally get water spraying down when the deck above is washed.
  3. As Richard Gere says in "Pretty Woman" when asked by Julia Roberts why he rents the Penthouse Suite when he is afraid of heights, because it is the best!
  4. Looking at crossing to Santander I am not impressed by a 2 night crossing from Portsmouth on Galicia when I can have a 1 night crossing from Plymouth on the Pont Aven in a cabin with a balcony.
  5. I think that this must be the most scenic WC in France??? Also connected to BF
  6. I renewed in March 2020 to expire 31.3.21 I then received an email in May 2020 thanking me for renewing and now it runs to 31st August 2021. I am quite happy with that as many other organisations have only given an extra 3 months.
  7. If they cruise clockwise will the cabins on the port side be less than half price?
  8. Has the Bretagne ever done a Spanish run?
  9. This is my Brittany Ferries memorabilia, a wallet which they sent me with tickets many years ago. I have used it ever since as a passport/ticket holder whenever we travel. Of no value except sentimental
  10. As this thread is "roadmap for optimism" I am clinging to the hope for a Brittany holiday in July. I did think that I could change to Spain if that looks more likely to happen in a month or two. I have recently amended a couple of crossings and each time have received two emails with 2 version numbers, say number 3 & 4, one after the other. Is this a known glitch?
  11. I have had an email back telling me my balance and saying :-"you can take out money in Bank ATM in uk if your card is still valid and not expired." I may try tomorrow.
  12. There is no way I wold have got my wife on that ferry! Thank goodness at Portsmouth or Plymouth the ferries all look very calm when loading......and you can be in your bunk before the rocking starts, having enjoyed the buffet first of course!
  13. Received email to say that they are closing the scheme down and to withdraw the funds before 30th April 2021 at market rate. Will have to find an alternative now which can be preloaded when rates are good, any ideas?
  14. It is still available as I paid a deposit before Christmas for a booking in France for this Summer which went through OK. I am the eternal optimist!
  15. Latest email received :- "Dear Customer, We regret to inform you of a temporary disruption in our services to you. Effective immediately, you will be unable to use your Brittany Ferries Prepaid Mastercard® Euro Card while we work to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, this disruption is out of our control and is a result in a disruption in service from a third-party supplier. Please rest assured that your money and card details are safe and secure, and we are working to have you back up and running as quickly as possible. If you require immediate assistance,
  16. I have noticed in the past that the system allocates a Starboard cabin one way and the a Port side cabin on return. Surely it would be better to allocate cabins on the same side for both trips so that you have a different view?
  17. The bathrooms in the commodore cabins are the same size as the standard ones. the benefits are in the cabin and balcony.
  18. ... and you do not get any noise from the lift.
  19. Yes, these two are certainly the best to have if possible as the view is much better. You also have a shelter from the wind.
  20. We had a lovely Supper at La Citadelle but what it is like under present circumstances I cannot know. The Lobster was excellent!
  21. I remember the heady days when just before Brexit the BF card could still be topped up at over 1.40, and then dropped to 1.10. We enjoyed two or three trips on that wonderful rate. I wonder when that will return? Buying euros at a high point was always the big advantage of the card.
  22. I am now quite relieved that I cancelled our July Santander crossing as I would have loaded my card with a quantity of euros which I may not have been able to use in Spain in august? At least now we are going to Wales I can use my English pounds. ( It may not be quite as sunny of course!)
  23. BFE Members 27 posts Report post Posted May 11 I am not sure that breakfast is top of my priorities at the moment. In two weeks time BF will ask for the balance for my Santander crossing and I am very nearly deciding to cancel and ask for the credit note. I will rather have a £300 credit note than a £1300 one! My worry is what is going to be open in Spain in the way of hotels and restaurants and it is a very expensive gamble.
