  1. Thanks to all. I was allocated a cabin on deck 6. I contacted BF by email to ask if I could be moved to deck 8 and it appears there are no outside 2 berth cabins on deck 8. I received a very nice email explaining this and I've been moved to a cabin on deck 7. My fault for not specifying that deck 7 was as bad as deck 6 in my email so I'll not pursue it further but full marks to them for responding so promptly. Next time I'll book a 4 berth cabin so that I can be moved if there is space. I should probably have called but was too busy this morning.
  2. Thanks Gareth. I'll give that a try.
  3. Is there any way of guaranteeing a deck 8 cabin on the BdS by selecting a particular cabin type? In my experience the cabins on deck 6 and 7 are much more vulnerable to car alarm noise. (bring back flogging for people who don't turn their alarms off). I'm wondering if, for example, all the 4 berth outside cabins are on deck 8? My recent trips in 2 and 3 berth cabins have all resulted in being allocated cabins on decks 6 and 7 and the 4 berth cabins are only a few pounds more. I am booking the Member offer and that doesn't offer the option of the high spec two berth cabins. On my last trip I managed to swap cabins by asking at the desk but obviously if the ship is full then that won't be possible.
  4. DONT APPLY THROUGH THE CRIT-AIR.FR WEBSITE. Use the https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/ official government web site. crit-air.fr is a scam charging 30 Euros for the vignette which costs 4.21 Euros on the government site. I followed the crit-air.fr link in an earlier post and blindly clicked on the online-store tab and just assumed that the price had increased. More fool me.
  5. Thank you Brian. I had completely missed that option. Web designers must despair of people like me. As the old school IT people used to say: a PICNIC problem (problem in chair not in computer).

  7. I tried making a booking this evening and took an instant dislike to the new format as it does not now offer Portsmouth-Caen sailings as an option when looking up Portsmouth-Le Havre sailings and vice versa. This was really useful for me as if my chosen crossing to Caen was either full or very expensive the details of crossings on the alternative route were instantly visible. This no longer happens on the new site. Now I have to look up both routes separately before deciding which to take. Could do better.

  9. I realise that it may require rework of schedules but for me I'd be happy to stick with current cabin size and forgo all other improvements if we could dispense with the dreaded piped music and "breakfast is available" announcements early in the morning and could remain in cabins in the early morning after an an overnight crossing until disembarkation time. That extra 40 minutes of sleep would be wonderful.
