Fruit machines on board

Recommended Posts

Having sailed on both the Pont and the Armorique in the last couple of weeks, I noticed that all the fruit machines had been removed on both ships, with the areas they occupied being left empty.  Have they also been removed on other ships, and does anyone know why?  Just curious, thats all.

I won £150 out of the one on Armorique once, from an initial £1 play. Won £8 from the first quid. Replayed a fiver of that, and won £50, so put the other £3 in from the first win and won £100 from that!

I am pretty sure I saw fruit machines on Barfleur a few weeks ago, my memory may be playing tricks on me but she has had a reshuffle of stuff anyway with the Games Planet being moved elsewhere to make room for the new lounge.  Pretty sure I saw a room marked "casino" nearby with fruit machines in.

Someone asked on Twitter where they had gone on  Barfluer that's where I read about the new law.

I've asked on Facebook, as I know someone on her at the moment, and she's had hers removed too.

That's good news as they were rarely used in my experience and in a popular area alongside the large picture windows which we often headed for after boarding to try and grab a table. Starboard side of course when going from Cherbourg to Portsmouth to get a good view of the port. Ed.

They won't be missed by me. Each to their own, but, as like amusement arcades at British seaside resorts, they're woefully tacky.

So is this just machines which pay out, not machines for gaming/kids etc?

Believe so as it's gambling rather than entertainment. At least on the kids machines you know you're not getting your money back ;)

It could be a blessing. Put one of these in the space where they were on the Pont :)
