Why is Normandy already arriving at Ouistrieham?

Recommended Posts

Just set sail and we are 20 minutes out and I'm now seeing the inbound Normandie from MSM, anyone know why she's inbound so early?

Repositioning? There's no one on deck.

Isn't a Wednesday when a sailing is missed to ensure the larger vessel is on the Friday night from Portsmouth?

MSM misses the morning sailing from Ouistreham and vacates the berth to allow Normandie in. Normandie then misses the afternoon sailing from Ouistreham and does the night sailing as normal. End result is that the two ships are normally in the Ouistreham area around now.

Aaah! Not being fluent in 'BF Timetable' I didn't realise.

Thanks.

LOL - I'm not either but have witnessed a similar sight before and wondered what was going on!

Yes, Jim is right.  Same as the reason why you were on MSM ex-Ouistreham at around 2pm.  Only day that crossing is ever available is on the light sailing day (Wednesdays in season, Fridays off-season).  On normal days the departures ex-Ouistreham are at 0730 and 1530 UK time.
