I note that the last NEX sailing is now the 18th to Cherbourg, presumably it will then destore and pop over to Le Havre for a rest !

I spoke to one of the Officers on board NEX today, the ship will be going to Le Havre for the Winter. He said NEX will be moved to Le Havre in November, so presumably she will have some work done before she is laid-up.

Thanks David.  Makes sense.  I wonder if she'll have to go the long way round all the way outside Ushant.

Answer - she went all the way round the outside.

Little bit of info showing Mont in the basin.

Click

Hoping for a few pics as the work is carried out.

Traduction par Millsy avec un dictionaire francais et Google. Brittany Ferries ferry Mont-Saint-Michel arrived Wednesday morning from Portsmouth Harbour (England), from where it usually sails to Caen Ouistreham (Calvados). Ready for work to be carried out by UAT of Brest, the ship entered basin 2 of the CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry). It should remain there until Monday morning, time for Damen yard technicians to make repairs on the port shaft line. A fishing net was caught in the propeller, requiring a change of packing. The yard will take advantage of this to clean the hull and carry out other minor repairs.

This bringing ships in to change propellers is quite a novelty to us in West Wales.

Stena Europe has been sailing out of Fishguard for ages with one engine out of action because the clutch had broken.

Then when Stena had another made, the day after they fitted it one of the other engines blew up!!!

So she is back to being one engine down.

Not strictly BF I know.

But it shows at least BF look after their ships.

Rhys

PS Stena did have a couple of spare props for the Europa on the harbour wall, inside the secure perimeter then one day someone realized they had vanished!!

Strange. Yesterday the sailings update page said the 9.00 sailing was cancelled.

Portsmouth to Cherbourg - Cherbourg to Portsmouth

18/09/18 Portsmouth to Cherbourg 09:00 - We are sorry to advise that due to the bad weather forecast across the Channel, this sailing has been cancelled. Please call us on 01752 648637 to discuss alternative arrangements. We are sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this will cause.

Maybe she's running empty.

Ed

Might be that there were so few passengers booked (late notice sailing) that they decided that the ride would be too uncomfortable to make it worth carrying them.  Or maybe the conditions are even outside commercial operational limits?  But ok for the positioning trip - crew should be hardy enough to cope, and she does need to get across to de-store.

I wonder if this is why Stena Europe's sailings have been cancelled today ( Storm Ali ) whereas Isle Of Inishmore is still sailing, albeit with major delays?
