Ample notice for a French strike!

Such a shame you'll no longer be in France to see how they do things over here. Purely in the interests of benchmarking, of course. ;) Ed

I'm sure I found this from someone here posting it, but there's a website with the full schedule of ongoing industrial action here

It’s of interest to me that BF chose to send BDS to the St Helens Anchorage for a couple of days - rather than squeeze in a run or two across to Le Havre.  Often, when a Bilbao rotation is cancelled, she does go across to Le Havre.  So I wonder whether this means the freight is not there to make an ad-hoc Le Havre trip worthwhile?

There is some form of public sector union strike on the 19th - I wouldn't be surprised to see Cherbourg out as well. However generally Ouistreham seems to have it's own pattern of strikes so hopefully won't be affected.

Curious that there isn’t a reciprocal Le Havre - Portsmouth sailing also cancelled, either on 18th or 19th.  Does this mean the vessel is going to manage to get across to Le Havre somehow, sans passengers?

Maybe an ad hoc freight crossing on Thursday during the day, arriving in Le Havre after the strike has finished?

I do hope that this isn't the start of a strikey season again - stirred up by the rail workers! :(

We are sorry to inform you that due to industrial action by dockers in the port of Le Havre, the following sailings have been affected:

Portsmouth to Le Havre 18 April 2018 23:30 - This sailing has been CANCELLED.

Le Havre to Portsmouth 19 April 2018 22:00 - This sailing has been CANCELLED.

The policy seems to be to let passengers know in advance of making it publicly available.

There will be a lot of strikes until Macron concedes on his new labour laws.

Thanks David, yes that answers it.  Looks like Etretat will be spending 48 hours at Portsmouth.

We are into week 3 of the strikes now and there hasn't been any real sign of other groups coming out in sympathy yet. Various universities were already blocked by protests before the train drivers started theirs. That might be the flashpoint if the students decide to copy what their parents did 50 years ago and have a period of mass unrest and civil disobedience. It all depends on the weather! Ed.
