eagleeye
She has a cafe ..and 9 reclining seats plus tables to sit at ..she is certified for 12 passengers so can carry hazardous loads ..there are an ever increasing loads of petrol tankers coming over on ferries as the storage depot over here is at capacity and we keep running out of diesel etc over here so I wonder if there is a plan to bring more of it over here on this ferry ....because when they put hazardous loads on normal ferries there is a limit on the number of passengers they can carry but with this ship they can be carried all the time

adicat
Got vans on so seats at a premium if more than 12.
canberra97
The Vans might not even have drivers onboard, they could be commercial vans being driven onboard and collected by a driver at the other end! This is what the vessel was designed for to take freight and commercial vehicles off the main passenger roro ferries especially on peak sailings. Red Kestrel has only got a passenger certificate for 12 passengers! Edited May 29, 2019 by canberra97
TonyMWeaver
Red Kestrel does not carry foot passengers or cars, the passenger area is for Freight drivers
eagleeye
One petrol tanker one manned artic two high skip waste lorries on the one from Southampton at 15 30 .the waste lorries used to go on last as the smell was unbearable in the passenger lounges .tanker is hazard so being useful all ready .... Freight passengers are still passengers at the end of the day, they are not crew members on the ships manifest they are classed as passengers. She has a passenger certificate for 12 passengers which obviously is for freight drivers but the ships operating certificate will be shown as being certified for 12 passengers, it doesn't distinguish it as freight drivers although obviously she doesn't take foot passengers. adicat
She was not in service Saturday although freight and trailers we're being dropped. Had a trip over for First time with Red Funnel in the car. Booked it Friday night, went Saturday an hour earlier than booked. All on time as they have more time than Wightlink to turn ship round. They have traffic issues coming off just like Gunwharf does as both ends close to road junction as soon as you are off the ferry.
eagleeye
She was in service Sunday as lots of extra trailers for festival coming over
