dont know if it can be done,if like me and other people always check the weather for weeks beforehand getting onto a ferry.it would be a good idea to have the weather forecast put onto this site.with the winter coming closer( worst luck)the channel and biscay seas will be starting to do its worst to us land lubbers to make our crossing that we will not forget.it will give people a chance to prepare for there trips i.e. Tablets etc.

I suppose a “Useful Links” section might be a helpful addition?  It could include weather, sea state etc links as well as the Crit’ Air thing, and of course the BF main site and Sailings Updates page.  Problem is, though, how far do you go and how do you mitigate the risk of linking to compromised sites.  Do you add links to other enthusiast sites?  Other ferry companies?  So it’s probably a bit of a minefield whilst being an attractive idea in principle.

As far as the weather forecast is concerned, there is no such thing as “the weather forecast”.  There are loads of different ones, and different people have different preferences about the one to use.  Maybe the official Met Office area forecasts for Wight, Portland, Plymouth, Biscay, Finistere and Rockall might be helpful.  But they only go 24 hours ahead so are of limited use for trip-planning purposes.

In theory, yes it can be done - but in honesty, you're better off just checking the internet for the weather anyway given, as Gareth says, the large number of conflicting sources.

I don't really see the point of putting up information on this site which is very easily and probably more accurately available elsewhere. It is just another chore for the admin to keep up to date and I'm sure they have better things to do.

As Gareth says, there is lots of weather information on tap with the Shipping Forecast for conditions in individual sea areas and weather forecasts for specific areas in the UK or on the Continent - just search on something like 'Rennes Weather' for example.

If you search on 'Driving in France' then a wealth of information comes up headed by the RAC and AA websites and various specialist sites and you can just take your pick.

All much better than trying to maintain a potted summary and selection of links on here which could never meet everyone's needs.

This site excels in on board detail such as which is the best cabin, feeding options and all the little details which can make travelling more enjoyable once you get on board. It is also good at warning of chronic delays such as clearing immigration or disembarking which you won't usually find on the 'official' websites.

And of course it is the defnitive guide to the implications of Brexit....😉

Just bookmark this link - www.magicseaweed.com - I'm sure that there are others but I like the presentation on this site. Choose Uk&Ireland charts, it shows the projected swell heights and you can look up to 7 days ahead without having to pay a subscription. Remember though, that forecasts will change as often as weather forecasts, so 7 days should be take as a guide but 2 days ahead do seem to be pretty accurate.
