Well I cannot imagine both decks being removed as that would be a very strange decision. If so she would be no better than a W class and what happens once St Cecilia goes and then VOW or St Clare go to Falmouth next year? You would be left with Wight Sun/VOW or Clare or the other would be Faith/VOW or Clare which would never be enough capacity even in Jan/Feb. Be interested to see come next week.

This time they have put a warning of the timetable change and also notified subscribers to the travel alerts. Still not good news for anyone affected but at least we know where we are.

The main changes were the port mezz deck was cut out and some of the windows were plated over to enable the use of the vacuum mooring system.

Some issues are present so it won't be returning straight away hence the cancellations.

Wonder how Wight Sun will get the vacuum berthing system or will she be left as a tie up as she doesn't fit the berth anyway.

Thanks .. mezz deck was probably cut out to accommodate double deck artics as Wightlink was missing out on freight and a lot of companies use them now ..

Capacity on P-F now about 475 per 2 hours compared to 576 in 1990 despite large investment. Need to persuade customers to move away from all wanting Saturday in Summer.

If you think that in 1996 when they had the 3 Raptors all up and running their capacity was much lower and now its gone up so their fleet investment has seen capacity grow compared to what it was 20 years ago and its about to go up again with a new vessel. Wightlink in that time have seen even St Clare capacity reduce before slight increase when her upper deck extended.  I guess the Raptors came in late enough that car sizes were bigger and so they have maintained their original capacity plus the extension. Return on investment on vessels is a better for Red Funnel based on this. Now they have to invest in new facilities landside whereas Wightlink have got their house in order from that point.

'St Faith' has arrived back in Portsmouth, docked on the linkspan at Camber Docks. She will remain here for about 10 minutes before moving to the Hulk Moorings.
