Naviera Armas orders new cruise ferry.

This is the article from Ferry Shipping News which on the face of it isn't particularly remarkable however the Bretagne debate springs to mind in terms of which shipyards are currently building traditional cruise ferries of suitable dimension who could design and construct an able replacement for the old lady offering passengers a similar experience to what we have now on the St Malo route. As the article mentions this is the Vigo based yards ninth vessel they've built for Naviera.


Naviera Armas Finally Orders New Ferry 

As expected Naviera Armas signed a contract with the Vigo-based Barreras shipyard. It will be the ninth ferry built by this yard for Armas.
The ro-pax ferry will have a capacity of 1,800 passengers, and will be 190m long.
She will be LNG-powered.
The delay in signing has to do with the acquisition of Trasmediterranea, which had to be approved by the authorities.
In fact, this ferry had been initially assigned to Armón Gijón, but the contract was cancelled due to the insufficient draft of this shipyard.

Another possibility is Rauma Marine Constructions (I believe the yard that built the P&O Spirits) who have just announced the construction of another cruise ferry newbuild for Tallink
