Widows and Bairns.

Recommended Posts

I was down in Eyemouth recently and saw the memorial to the 189 seamen who lost their lives at sea in one day “Black Friday”, the memorial is of the 78 widows and 182 bairns looking out to sea them, there’s other similar ones in the other small towns along the Scottish Borders coast , just thought I would share this as it’s one of the most poignant and apt memorials I’ve seen.

Yeah it really is and the smaller ones in the villages along a short part of the coast show how much it affected the community, especially as every widow and every bairn on them represents a real person affected by the tragedy.
