Nova Star review with photos

Recommended Posts

Just thought I’d share, a review of Nova Star has appeared with some good photos.  Very huge casino, would like to change the lounge area chairs overlooking the wake to large leather sofas, get rid of that orange by the staircase, but that is about it.

If you look at the glass dividers in the restaurant (this was Currents Restaurant with Nova/Inter Shipping, the Pitstop Truckers Restaurant as built) the glass dividing panels display the names of various international destinations (Istanbul, Oslo, Vienna etc). Polferries appear to have added Szczecin and Krakow etc but in and amongst are also a bunch of LD Lines ports from when the ship was built: Boulogne, Dover, Newhaven, Portsmouth, Toulon :)

She is a very smart ship inside, her lack of outdoor space loses her brownie points, but on the whole she is quite spacious and well laid out.  Could there be more outdoor space, they could use the top deck around the funnel?  If that is possible?

On the Ferries! Facebook group there has been a further picture posted of that glass panel with Mostyn, Rosslare and Cherbourg on it.

The deckplans still appear to have an LD liveried funnel on them too.

Yes, Nova Star Cruises did a proper job updating them but Polferries have just stuck stickers to cover up the old names. This is what they were originally like -

I notice in the review that the restaurant has very limited seating seems a bit strange, apart from that it looks ok, @hhvferry I never got a cabin number on my LD booking on her 😉

The Bistro du Norman was going to be the only general public restaurant on board as the Norman Leader (I think it was just going to be a self service like on the Norman  Spirit). The truckers restaurant has therefore been commandeered as a waiter service.

Polferries on this route do quite good restaurant food and the breakfast buffet is popular. The waiter service restaurant on her routemate the Wawel (in the old Langans) is smaller than this and you sometimes have to book a table/sit waiting for tables to become free - and she still has a separate drivers' restaurant.

I am wondering about wifi and charging/USB points, are the charging points cabins only?  Interesting the kids play area branches off the main walkway without a gate.

I’ll tag this on here as a Polferries post has appeared on my Facebook newsfeed of Nova Star decked out for Christmas with a Santa walking around.  Song is in Polish, but she looks quite busy and festive.  Didn’t want to start a Christmas thread off yet, a tad too early, so tagged this here.
