FERRY Safety Technology

Recommended Posts

Good Evening All,

With the exciting launch of Honfleur getting ever closer, it made me think if newly built ships have advanced safety features, such as how cars develope in a short space of time?

Will Honfleur have any advanced over other ships within the fleet?

Best wishes,

It doesn't matter whether a ship is newly built or not. When the reg's are amended to include new safety technologies all vessels must have the remedial work done at some stage to bring them up to an equal standard.

Honfleur will have advances in fuel and it's storage which in isolation could be seen as an added safety feature, LNG doesn't explode, it evaporates very, very rapidly making it virtually non flammable or combustible even in an unstable environment such as through an unlikely accident at sea.. diesel or oil is very hygroscopic meaning it'll burn even when floating on water.

The fuel transfer system also minimises possible refuelling leaks and is a world first. From a green perspective, she'll be the most environmentally friendly ship sailing in both U.K. and French waters.
