SAILING UPDATES: 2019 Latest News

St Malo I’d be very surprised at Ed - those sailings are usually pretty fully booked aren’t they?  More likely one if the routes that has the extra sailings put on?

We are returning from Spain to the uk on the 29th hopefully!

we have looked at getting a booking on the cf from Bilbao to Portsmouth but that’s a no go as we have pets and all the pet friendly cabins are gone. So looks like the long haul up to Roscoff with a stopover is the only other option.

It’s annoying that they don’t give you much time to make alternative arrangements!

I was just going by what was being talked about on Twitter last week. Mid-week might not be full but now we know it's a booking with pets it makes that a lot more unlikely. As Nick says it will likely be via Armorique instead and a lengthy drive south. At this rate BF ought to start block-booking hotels in the Bordeaux area for their passengers. Ed.

So the pa is in Brest at the mo and the timetable still shows a sailing on the 22nd Wednesday.

I wonder if it could be cutting it a bit fine for that sailing, also worried about our sailing on the 29th back to the uk and wonder if we should be making alternative plans!

The next sailing for Pont-Aven that I can see is the Roscoff/Cork sailing on May 24th

Well I have looked on the vessel finder site and pa doesn’t look like she is in dry dock yet?

Will have to see if there is an update on the BF site tomorrow for this coming week!

Well on vessel finder it looks like there are 2 other vessels in dry dock at the mo, one is a Norwegian cruise ship the other a tug.

So if that’s the case could pa be waiting for an empty berth?

I believe there is now a third dry dock but it does not show up on the maps. I don't know where it is in relation to the other two. Ed.

Presumably it depends if the leak is internal or external because from the image provided in the Press Room it looks like most of the steering gear and related engineering space, is below, or very close to, the water line. Ed.

Yes, however seems to be in dry bit and not the wet bit

It may not need a dry dock, just the specialists.

I think you are right, the work required may be internal and won't need dry-docking.

The Armorique was due to sail at 16.30 from Roscoff on Thursday and then spend the night at dock in Plymouth picking up the 08.00 Friday sailing. She is now doing an extra rotation from Roscoff at 08.30 Thursday returning from Plymouth at 15.00 and a Roscoff overnight at 23.00 ready for her Friday morning Plymouth departure. This suggests the Pont Aven will not be back for the 20.45 Thursday night Plymouth-Roscoff sailing.

Interesting few months at Roscoff!

Hello Fadah, hello Mudda,

I have got a dodgy ruddah

And I think I must inform ya

That I cannot turn around a corner

But the ship yard they will sort it

Even if they have to force it

Cos I must return to operations

Despite these odd aberrations

My passengers rely upon me

To discharge them where they wannabe

And I’m really, really trying

Even on three engines striving

I will get you to your destination

Maybe late but not much waiting

So as you drive off to your vacation

Criticism should be lost in transalation

I really think that you should post a video of you singing it to the original tune 😀

Reference tweets, do BF tweet under anything other than @BrittanyFerries?  I 'follow' them under that address but have not seen any tweets other than how wonderful things are and oh, look - more dolphins!

The next tab to the right is called 'Tweets and Replies' where things are sometimes nice and rosy ('BF your apple tart is the best I've ever tasted'!) and sometimes not quite so wonderful ('Disgraceful customer service! Never again!'). Ed.

If you want to look at the tweets that have not been answered which are a great way of spotting problems use:-

https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=%40brittanyferries&src=typd&lang=en, sometimes it will need sorting by taking the latest tab

No Pont Aven in Cork this weekend according to Port of Cork website, Armorique is the expected vessel according to their website!

1st June! Getting closer. Would love to know what the alternative to the Pont Aven is if the Armorique can’t accommodate the full sailing on the 1st June.

I like to be able to plan ahead.

Cabin-Boy & David Williams - thanks for the twitter-guidance ;)

Bit disheartening though, lots of angst and woe on display there!
