Well just got back on Bretagne. Just a word of warning, the stupid uk gov passenger locator form is not only a bit rubbish, but also the confirmation email you get shows that is has attached the form, but is occasionally not actually attaching it. So had an annoying visit to the shed to explain I had filled it in. So best to download the form, rather than rely on the email.

As a Uk civil servant, I am shocked that they would release into use such a bad form that has obviously not been properly reviewed before release. Where I work, everything is fully reviewed.

The attachment showed on my wife’s iPhone in gmail, not on mine or iPad in Outlook.... fortunately I’d screen capped. Strangely it was showing in Outlook on a ‘real’ laptop when I looked next day

My son wanted to see the Pont Aven come in and we hung around for the Connemara too. The Pont Aven even gave a blast of the horn as he waved from the round tower.

Can I just say that’s terrible news about your wife - I for one would like to pass on heartfelt thoughts to you both as I’m sure other Enthusiasts will as well.... Chris

Thanks for all the concern, made it back into Portsmouth this morning and Mrs FW’s wine stocks have been duly replenished so she’s doubly happy. Not particularly bothered about getting back although a

Yes but the Roscoff-Rosslare sailings were due to last until the end of October and now finish next week! Two months worth of departures cancelled

Don't forget Rosslare - Cherbourg is starting next year though, (hopefully) :)

BBC Radio Devon has just announced tonights Plymouth - Roscoff is cancelled.

Just looked on the wonderful new website, nothing on there.  Sailing updates doesn't work like it used to, loading all routes with any updates.

Pont Aven is now out in the bay doing her normal hanging around. Is this so Armorique can dock in the morning or running as normal?

Is Connemara having issues? Currently sailing in with tugs fore and aft (Marksman and Scotsman) according to AIS

No issues with 'Connemara'. Tugs 'Marksman' & 'Scotsman' were returning from a new customer job in Southampton escorting out the bulker 'Seaduty'. 'Marksman' & 'Guardsman' were also escorting the ship in on Sunday.

She looks like she is well underway, and has Roscoff on AIS. She needs to be there anyway as she's off to Cork from there tomorrow.

Could Connemara be replaced by Normandie ? Thus the Normandy region would no longer be served by 3 ships but by 2, while retaining the 3 main ports of Freight. I think Normandy is better able to ensure social distancing than Connemara ?

How many ships will be left in service in the final?

That means Caen will definitely be going back to a one ship service during the winter months....:S

Chris

Maybe just for November / December, there may be some more Brexit money come January after the refits.

ps - however the flash sale is pushing the Caen route until mid December !

pps - could there be some juggling with CF doing some Caen cover for a while and then PA stopping when Galicia is ready and CF goes for a refit.

ppps - somehow, I think they need to do a service every night to France

I think Normandie will be required for Caen, isn't MSM on refit this year?

The announcement on the Amorique seems to be more of a publicity stunt aimed at the French Government as part of their request for state aid for 5 years. It was attended by a local member of parliament who was going to press the minister. The CEO was also present and complained of very low passenger numbers, 150 on the most recent Amorique crossing and 30 on an unspecified crossing.

'Mont St Michel' spent a month in Gdansk in January 2020, I highly doubt she will get any time off this winter. 'Normandie' had a week off in Cherbourg in February 2020 plus her lay-up during the lockdown. With the arrival of 'Galicia', 'Cap Finistere' will most likely have her usual refurb in Astander.
