BF-themed 'Le Pub' quiz

Recommended Posts

You may all have had enough of online pub quizes by now after 4 weeks of lockdown, but anyone who would like to participate in a BF-themed game is very welcome.

I have updated a quiz I did for some students a year ago and added some specific BF-related questions to challenge your knowledge. There are 50 points up for grabs and I obviously trust everyone to be honest and not use Google or Wikipedia.

'Le Pub' will be open for business on Friday evening from 8pm UK time and the first question will be posted on this thread as soon as everyone has got a round in and is sitting comfortably. There are 46 questions (some require more complex answers so are worth 2 points each) and I aim to post a new question every minute or so and then provide the answers at around 9pm.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Dunno, but I think you have to send Tea bags as an entry fee.

Do you think Ed would mind Lipton Yellow Label?

On a serious note, this sounds fun. I will try to remember to check the forum settings in the morning as that many posts on quick succession might trigger an account being blocked!

Jim, there are 6 categories (Geography / History / On Screen / Sport / Science / Brittany Ferries and the French language) and I can post all the questions from each category as a block if necessary.

Neil, let me know what time you leave home from work on Friday and I'll PM you the complete list so you can work on it during your break.

My week has suddenly become less boring than normal, something to look forward to - and Friday is my birthday so if I don't win I'll be throwing a massive strop Ed...;)

Oh goodness me hf_uk, more nerdy than usual can't be possible?

A couple of chilled tins of 1664 (for breakfast) and you'll be just fine...🤣

My birthday soon too luckily the very good restaurant in town has a special occasions menu that includes confit du canard so it’s not all bad that and a nice cahors will make up for not getting away, happy birthday when it comes Chris .

The idea wasn't to advertise my birthday but I will enjoy it all the same, thanks guys. I'm working that day, Friday is one of our busier days of the week with plenty of Irish freight drivers around plus a few locals, but consider yourself lucky to have the option of a restaurant Neil. Here they are all closed and have been for over a month, it's looking like mid June at a minimum before they get the all clear to gradually get going again and even that's not certain. The big worry is how many small specialist food suppliers will have folded, I have a nasty feeling it's not going to be pretty.

Sounds yummie, enjoy!

It's just a pub quiz. A pint of whatever you prefer and a bag of peanuts seems appropriate to me but you and Chris seem to have turned it into Macbeth's feast! ☺ Ed.

Beer and peanuts are ok but `Fine wine and quails eggs` are almost worth missing a quiz for🤣...speaking of wine, just popped into our local Aldi (we are big spenders) and they had some excellent Cote du Rhone Village, cuvee reserve 14% for just £4.99 and very good it is too..if you`re passing

On the subject of birthdays, I bet there's a baby boom at Christmas!

Looking forward to the quiz Ed. As we're all at home are teams allowed... how about names as we do the those on the Cap as Pierre Head?

... and all their breakfast tea is Assam and made by Twinings, we used the one in Seacroft before Harrogate was built. Anything take you're fancy in the middle aisle, a compressor, or an angle grinder perhaps?

So you've been living there since the 16th century. The history questions are going to be very easy in that case. 😉

As for teams, that's fine and team names are good too.

Yep born in 1480 to be precise. Post decimalisation I drop the zero, I'm really 520 years old.😉
