Grego
So finally the Government have lifted the quarantine rules. We have been in the Algarve now for 4 weeks driving back to Santander for Monday's sailing on PA. We are planning to drive to northern Portugal on Sunday and stay overnight before crossing the border into Spain on Monday then making sure we don't stop until we get onto the ferry. I'm assuming right that we should be ok from the 14 day quarantine as long as we don't stop and get out of the car whilst in Spain? 🤞
neilcvx
Well no as everyone on the ferry would have had to have done the same .

Carry on up through France with matchsticks holding up your eyelids and you can cross on the train without quarantining.

It might be worth asking BF if they can do something about this as I understand the issue is only when you are in dock, if they gave Portugal transit passengers another colour they could keep you isolated until sailing ( maybe stay in cars)
Grego
So all those driving through France non stop last week from Switzerland, Austria and Italy to catch the Channel ferry still needed to isolate???? Seems to be a bit unfair and as usually a little bit up in the air amount the rules?

cvabishop
Rules tend to be focussed on air travel. Ferry issues are probably not really considered. It's all a bit of a mess really. I suppose the Govenment would take the view that you are actually travelling back from Spain where restrictions still apply. Life can be unfair sometimes.
cvabishop
It will be interesting to see if there is a consequential rise in infections in the Algave in due course. This item from the BBC website identifies the problems in France, Germany, Spain and Italy being associated by lnational authorities with local and foreign holidaymakers under the age of 40 not practising social distancing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53856609
