News item says she's going to be freight only, but an experimental booking allowed for car & trailer. However cabin choice a bit sparse.

Perhaps she should do berthing trials in Jersey, Guernsey and Portsmouth while she's here just in case BF want to sell their Condor stake to Stena to get back a bit of cash.

But the real question is, can she fit on the berth at Ouistreham?! 😈

She berthed in Rosslare yesterday with Stena Horizon on the next berth over and in comparison she looks like a mini Visentini with her added rear vehicle deck .

The sponsons were installed  when the extra deck was added to assist with stability , HMNZS Canterbury is based on the same design and suffered from major stability issues and extra ballast was added to help correct it , maybe they should have gone with the sponson idea .

I think that for the HMNZS Canterbury, adding sponsons might have compromised her amphibious ability, particularly launching RIBs and using her side ramps. Ed.

And meanwhile Stena Nordica has finished her stint on the Irish Sea and heading for Gdansk via a Northerly route around Scotland .

The route makes sense as there is a large storm coming in off the Atlantic tonight and we are expecting it to be pretty blowy here. They are also suggesting some disruption to traffic in the channel. Ed.

Is it just me that hears this tune whenever I see this ship?

  • 1 month later...

Stena Horizon should have been back on the route by now but has been delayed due to a Covid outbreak onboard , at the moment she is at anchor off of Anglesey .

Regrettably she’s been a bit of a disaster on the route - someone at Stena HQ didn’t do their homework properly. As soon as the weather kicks off she’s been either delayed or cancelled, like a 12 hour delay this evening. And much too small - Visentinis have their uses after all....
