A short break at this hotel with a view like that might well be worth considering. Nice breakfast too by the look of it.

What a shame that this technology didn't exist in the mid 20th century when Adams tanks would have been running up and down the pier together with the tram. With paddle steamers coming across from Portsmouth and Southsea. Oh, childhood and youthful memories.

Plus of course all the ocean liners passing in and out of Southampton. I remember seeing some of them framed between the buildings looking down Ryde High street as they passed. They looked huge, and they were. The old Queen Mary actually displaced more than the current Queen Mary 2 although their gross(capacity) tonnages were very different.

Taken in conjunction with Marine Traffic, it should be possible to anticipate and watch cruise ship movements as they visit Southampton on their regular calls while anchoring off the Dorset coast. (Plus of course the BF ships although they will be further away).

That's not happening, Griffon Hoverworks own Solent Express now and she is being used as a test craft.

Thought it was far fetched as it cost a lot to get a passenger cert ..and can’t see it being profitable

Is that official, as they did not confirm nor deny in a recent news article?
