New Routes Ireland - St Malo / Roscoff

She was sitting in Poole this morning when I had my 2nd jab. Last time it was the Cotentin. Perhaps they are being used to entertain people being jabbed. No sign of any activity around her today though, but I did see 1 LK Walter's lorry heading over Poole Bridge away from the port.

She sits in Poole all day on Thursdays because Poole is nicer than the money-making trip she could do on the currently-suspended-because-the-ship-had-to-go-to-Portsmouth Poole-Cherbourg route.  And there would be a danger of lots of nasty dirty lorries messing up her nice clean vehicle deck.

Few pics of Armorique arriving in Rosslare from Rosslare Europort twitter

I think we can safely say it is news if the President of the company has announced it   It looks like the President of the Brittany region jumped the gun a bit and then Jean-Marc Roue joined in.

My children also help to keep the Bay of St. Malo free of sand by putting as much of it as possible in the car every time we visit Normandy. Ed

If going abroad is difficult this year - wonder if BF would consider doing “mini cruises”. So board on in the uk early evening, meal onboard, overnight stay inside a cabin, sail around, breakfast, lunch and dock back within the uk either the following evening, or a day or two later. So similar to the Xmas cruises they do.

Im scrapping the barrow here - but the urge of propping up the bar on a ship is starting to get to me...

I wouldn't mention 'scrapping' on here if I were you! 🤭

And you'd be propping up the entire company.

Great idea!

Their Xmas cruises have always been a sell out.

And while I know BF has toyed with idea of the cruises before. Things are very different now. This summer could be the perfect time to experiment.

They have the ships. Their hotel side of their operations is of cruise-standard. And their picturesque  ports of St Malo and Santander are prefect destinations for mini-cruisers.

Plenty of proper cruise ships hanging round off the coast doing nothing that could provide this sort of things in spades and style if there was a demand for it.

Sorry, but not even close I'm afraid.

Several cruise companices are already planning UK only cruises, with and without ports of call.

Was literally thinking about this earlier. I am surprised no operator has at least attempted it. I would quite happily ‘do’ a non-embarkation ferry trip. Say something similar to the Cinderella 22hr Baltic cruise.

I'm surprised too esp. in the case of BF.

With duty-free now making a comeback it makes it even more viable. Stena just announced that their shops on their UK to EU routes just increased revenue by 80% in the first quarter of this year.

While BF might not make your towels into a swan or leave a chocolate on your pillow. On ships like the PA, for a 48 hour cruise, the standard is certainly in the "good enough" bracket. And their competition can't claim to have an authentic French restaurant onboard!

And you could park your car onboard that you used to get to the departure port and load up with your duty free allowance .

Pont Aven or Bretagne would be great for a non-disembarking mini-cruise. Leaving Portsmouth and sailing past Wight and sailing past the Channel Islands to return the day.

I am even surprised DFDS haven’t done this with the King or Princess - just 20 odd hours at sea with disco, casino, food entertainment etc. They have brief day cruises for a few hours before - for the air show and Music events, I am really surprised nobody has gone for this.

Virgin Voyages are offering Scarlet Lady from Portsmouth. If BF brought back Bretagne they'd have to compete by changing her name to Rusty Lady. 🤣

How does that work? Do you pay for a ticket and then send your mother-in-law off in your place?

No but you could certainly make a sheep out of all the fluff in the air vents.

I can't wait! "Alright, Love. Get your mask,  you've pulled!"

Unusual looking ship. Looks like a futuristic Queen Mary 2 from the front but an NCP carpark on stilts from the side.
