No, Speed - 056 Bonanza Express, in Santa Cruz.

051 is the old Speedferries vessel isn't it ?

045 is Speed One

051 - Bonanza Express

056 - Milenium

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

Sea Leopard remains in Tilbury - could pop up anywhere. More will be known as we get in to another year.

Atlantico - Azors, maybe!

All quiet at the moment, though, perhaps they should pay attention to the current BF situation and see how the big boys do it :)

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

Barfleur to Ramsgate?

From the new ferry thread:

"In addition, there are no plans to dispose of Barfleur – she is being withdrawn from Poole for future service with Brittany Ferries. It is alleged that she is due for a refit to remove some cabins/reclining seat lounges and increase vehicle capacity – whilst there is no official information on this, it is thought that a delegation from BF vbglossarlink.gif in Roscoff have visited the ports of Ramsgate and Dunkirk on a number of occasions in the past few weeks."

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

Personally I think BF trying the Eastern Channel would be a mistake in the current market conditions.

Do you mean in their own right or by taking an interest in Seafrance ?

Quite - they would need considerable clout/available fleet in order to make any kind of impact.

Or indeed in any market conditions. Anybody who gets involved in Ramsgate is doomed IMO and the short sea is a market that BF simply isn't by experience or philosophy suited to. There wouldn't be the on-board income let alone the overall margin for the fancy manning and employment practices they are used to and the passenger culture is wildly different.

Apologies for this going slightly OT, but here is some blue sky thinking relating to BF, Seafrance and Dover operations.......... Mods if you feel this should be split or merged with another post, please do.

The interview with Martine Jourdren states that talks are still going on with SNCF relating to Seafrance, so lets assume for one minute this is not a dead parrot.

If BF were to acquire Seafrance, the following could happen. Moliere (with some mods) and SFV could be brought to Portsmouth. Being near sisters, this would bring dividends with crew training and familiarity, and spare parts etc between both vessels. SFV could still do her Spain rotations, and the Moliere installed on the Caen route alongside MSM.

This would then free up Normandie, alongside an already free Barfleur. Sadly, both being double deck loaders, this rules out any meaningful long term operations from Plymouth and it's associated ports. However, it would allow a service to be run to Cherbourg, whereby there is currently a gap with no Celtic link. Barfleur would be good for this.

Normandie, with some mods, could then move to Dover Calais, taking the place of the Moliere. Only the Seafrance NPC would then be left in limbo.

What this would do is find employment for all BF ships, provide stiff competition against all other operators, and hopefully better utilise the Moliere.

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

Only problem with that plan TLG, is that Pont Aven does not fit in Caen, so the Superfast ships have no hope of getting in!

But if it were possible, that looks like a very stable plan!

Didn't Seafrance take out all the cabins on Moliere? To Doverise her?

Yes, and in some parts of the ship it shows! They could always be put back in I suppose but that costs etc.

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

To be honest with all the movements going on with the bigger operators, it would not surprise me if Euroferries doesn't dive bomb and never get off the ground now. They could have missed the boat so to speak!!!!:-#

They took out "most" of her cabins but not all - real mess of a job really...

Re: EUROFERRIES: Ramsgate to Boulogne

Bonanza has just moved from her berth in Santa Cruz, no Euroferries on the side .......

051 is looking for Atlantico charter. Don't know how it got on. Don't the relationship between Euroflop and FOSA is very good.
