Re: ETRETAT: Brittany Ferries to operate former Norman Voyager to Le Havre & Santande

Hallo

Is the Etretat under the command of the (ex) Master of the Cotentin?

Etretat has now arrived into Santander.

Photos below are care of @WebcamSantander :)

Interesting that she is still flying the BF house flag on her foremast rather than the Normandie region flag you would have expected.

Re: ETRETAT: Brittany Ferries Economie

Looks like she's on the linkspan used by LD rather than the usual BF berth, as predicted on here.

No she's on the usual BF berth.

Which raises the question why don't LD use the same linkspan?

Interesting, BF don't, as yet, appear to be suffering from the sort of comments LD get when their departures are delayed.;)

Remember this is the first crossing, LD were running late months in to the service, im watching closely, don't worry. I have been impressed with LD's time keeping recently, we shall see with BF....8-)

Simple answer - it's down to ramp configuration...

Sorry LDO had assumed that the ships had the same configuration.

Senior Commandant is Olivier Raimbeaux who has spent time on Cotentin, but more on Cap Finisterre and others.

Looks like Etretat lost a few hours over night - bad weather out in the bay again, perhaps? No biggie as the first Le Havre sailing isn´t until tomorrow.

Re: ETRETAT: Brittany Ferries Economie

Double post... but shes currently making 25.3 knots according to AIS. Obviously this isn't 100% accurate but it seems BF really want her back in Portsmouth! Of course the lorry drivers onboard will want to be on their way..

Probably will be now. I had thought she was going to do her overnight freight-only rotation to Le Havre.

Re: ETRETAT: Brittany Ferries Economie

I guess it's still possible as she's just about to berth.

It will be interesting to see if she does. The timings for this "freight-only" rotation are given in BF's Freight website, viz.

POLH: 1715hrs -- 2315hrs

LHPO: 0130hrs -- 0830hrs

Obviously BF will have to decide whether ETRETAT can do this and be back in Portsmouth in time to discharge and then load for her first sailing to Le Havre with all categories of traffic on board, if not at 1200hrs then not long after.

Just had an exchange of texts about something else with the Commandant, so I guess he is in port.

The return leg can be done in 2-3 hours quicker than scheduled so opportunity to catch up time, it's just whether the drivers can drive off any quicker on arrival In Portsmouth if it doesn't take the 8 hours scheduled.
